SKU CS-KOLAJO2
Kolkwitzia amabilis is a deciduous shrub in the honeysuckle family (Caprifoliaceae) and the sole species in the genus Kolkwitzia. It typically grows 6–10 feet tall with a vase-shaped, arching habit, often as wide as it is tall. The leaves are opposite, simple, ovate, 0.5–3 inches long, dark green in summer, and may turn reddish or yellow in fall. Its flowers are bell-shaped, light pink with yellow throats, appearing in clusters along old wood from mid to late spring (April–May in temperate regions),. The fruits are small, hairy, pinkish-brown capsules that often persist on the plant. Mature stems feature exfoliating light grayish-brown bark, adding winter interest.
